If you believe you have been exposed to HIV and want help to judge your risk, would like advice about HIV testing, or have questions about the effectiveness of condoms or risks associated with specific sexual practices, this is the site for you.
Get your conclusive test 3 months after your last unprotect vaginal or anal sex and continue to use condoms CORRECTLY and CONSISTENTLY and you will prevent yourself from contracting HIV.
thanks teak, i know you have been in this fourm for a long time by reading your comment, i want to know if the virus can enter my body thru the base of my penis by penatrating the skin.
she works as a maid. i think she got it from her employer. reason bcos, her employer and his family are normally quite close. something happen to make him leave their home and stay away for abut 2 weeks, he later move back but stayed in the guest room. he also recently start to exercise a lot, they start to use condom now. he also start taking a lot of medicine. normally after drinking, he will leave his glasses around the table but now he will leave it in the sink( bcos his children might drink from it).when we were are the hiv clinic, the doc ask her if she had sex with her employer, her answer was " i don't know" when i insisted she answer, she give a mick " no?". the doc say she was not confident with her reply.
Stay away from the double condoms and rubber glove. As Teak said: "CORRECTLY and CONSISTENTLY." Double condoms = incorrect. Due to friction between the two, they are MORE likely to rip and/or tear. Rubber glove = incorrect.
thanks kas, i understand you meaning abt 2 condom. still vwery worried now, i may go for an anonamous test this evening. we in singapore can test 3 times a week. no need appointmant. today will be 7.5 weeks. from unprotected sex and 4.5 weeks from protected sex. wish me luck. thanks
Ok. i'm still negative. Going by the advise of Dr HHH. for unknown HIV status, its 6 weeks. For HIV positive partner like me, its 12 weeks. Man, its going to be a long month
I would strongly recommend you to refrain having vaginal / anal sex with your girl friend. Though condoms are reliable but, it can also rip at times - to put you in to risk. I understand it's an individual choice to have or not have sex with whomsoever they want. However, considering your situation where you have other STI's, you are just entering the lion's den. I'm extremely sorry, but this is a support forum and I would only give you right advice, no emotions attached.
Excuse me. You can have safer sex with HIV positive persons. Just make sure condoms are correctly and consistently used and that if a you have a condom failure that you seek nPEP.
No, she refuse to admit how she got hiv. I know it cant be from drinking glasses. anyway she got send home to philippines by the ministry of health. yes, i have heard of long term couples having goods sex and with condom even if one person has hiv.
Its so easy to say " test again in 3 month" but the axiaty is terrible. Every minor ache or a new found redness on the skin cause a lot of stress. I keep thinking I have it now. I have been testing at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.5 weeks. with each negative result, its a new found relief. I'm sure all member in this hiv forum know what i'm going thru.
i,m having a strange itch all over my body with some small bumpy rash on my chest legs and elbow. the rashes are not clustered together. i have tested at 8 weeks negative. any chance these rashes are related to hiv?
A neg result at 8 weeks is an EXCELLENT indicator that you dodged the bullet. I know easier said than done....but try not to overanalyze every little sensation you get...it will only serve to drive you nuts. Re-test at 12 weeks for your final result.
As for beig safe with your GF...this is something that the two of you will need to be diligent with. Correct condom use, as was mentioned...means ONE latex or polyurethane condom with PLENTY of water based (no vaseline or oil-based) lubes. Of course there is always a minimal risk of condom failure, but if you practice good techniques and are consistent...you have little to worry about.
Of course....activities such as mutual masturbation, kissing, frottage, oral sex, etc...are safe.
Lastly...I don't know how important it is to you that your GF come clean as to HOW she contracted HIV....but that may take some time for you both to work through.....both because there was obviously a betrayal on her part....and then she placed you at risk on top of that.
Sounds like you're very dedicated...hope things work out. You and your GF can live a totally normal life together with her being infected...even sexually.
My gf was sent home to the philippines in august. our country do not allow hiv poz foreigners to work here. i spoke to her a few times on the phone, she still will not tell me who give her the virus, I wont bother to ask her again. if she cannot be honest in a relationship, i guess there wasn"t one to begin with

I've seen people test postive after 8 weeks and nursegirl just posted about a person testing postive after 6 weeks. "
Use 'a' condom, but NOT two/double. Do not use a rubber glove as means of protection when engaging in vaginal and/or anal sex, either.
8 week test is a very good indication.
