Many hiv positive people are living longer and healthier lives thanks to excellent medications that have become avaliable. On a personal note my friend here in canberra has been hiv positive for 25 years and has an undectable viral load a high CD4 cell count,is in great shape and is getting married this year. Its not the end of the world.Anyway, you haven,t even tested yet, there,s a very good chance that you will be fine.
What if its positive I won't be able to move on ill wake up everymorning thinking of ita, go sleep evrynight thinking of it. Wondering when I'm going to get ill all the time, ment to be going university in september worked hard for it! And now I'm finally there. Is that moving on ill be depressed ill go mental
You have to test to receive closure. Its the only way to move on.
I'm scared to test as I know myself if I'm positive I won't be able to cope with it!
odds are for the dog track.
want to know your status? TEST !
That makes sense, so now can you tell me what's the risk of unprotected receptive anal sex if the person was hiv+ or unknown status?
having unprotected sex with someone who is hiv + does not mean "automatic" infection.
So its not allways passed on just depends on luck??
It's like this: If you had unprotected vaginal/anal sex with somebody whose sexual pattern is unknown (I mean outside your marriage/domestic partnership/relationship), you would need to get tested 3 months thereafter, because if she/he had HIV, she had a chance of transmitting that to you.
Any negative result by then will be conclusive.
Not all unprotected sex will lead to infection. Meaning, even if you had 3 times unprotected sex your girl, that doesn't mean she'll get infected.
Try to repost you question with exact exposure you had.
To know my status, but that don't make sense. Obviously I'm negative if she was negative after me and after the window period and I had her 3 times unprotected? :s or does that not mean anything or make a difference? :s
Enough...test 3 months post exposure to know your status. Simple as that.
Even if it was 3 exposures?
not always the case, you need to check your own status... they were not infected by you but not every exposure leads to infection
As long as they didn't have unprotected sex with someone else and didn't tell you about it.
Test to know YOUR status. Do not use someone elses test as yours.
So if I had sex with someone they got tested after the window perios and are negative. Will I be negative aswell..
Cool I now understand, so the last question is, will the viral load be infectious enough to infect after a week?
YES,the viral load would be higher at 4 to 5 weeks as vance suggested, however if one was hiv positive it would be present in there sperm after a week, yes.
Oh ok I understand, but wouldn't the viral load be higher after 4/5 weeks then 1 week. Or is 1 week more then enough, and at this time is hiv present in sperm?
Thats when people have high viral loads.During the window period is when people are most infectious and when many transmissions occur.
The virus multiplies very quickly and in the first few weeks the viral load is at it's peek. I'd say by week 3 it's at it's highest.
How can they be very infectious, because in a week how can hiv multiply so much?
