hiv scared

I was exposed 4 weeks ago because the condom I used broke without my knowing until after the regrettable intercourse.
Then after 2 weeks, I noticed a growth or swelling at the left side of my inguinal or groin area. As I write this swelling is almost disappearing now. Between the appearance of the inflammation (swell) and now, I have really felt sick, some stomach disomfort, general internal bodily discomfort, may be frequent stooling, sometimes, I feel am gettng weaker so I'll eat some food but still feel the same way. (In addition I'm going through stress because I'm unemployed as well). The other person didn't care about the fact that the condom broke. (1) I'll like to know if I must contract HIV if the other person is HIV positive? (2) If I take an HIV test today (4 weeks) after, will a negatie result mean that I did not contract the disease? Thanks.

Thanks a million! But between now and say the 12 weeks, how do I manage or mitigate my health crises of mainly internal bodily sensations somewhat fever, and weakness or emotional depression? Or lead  zero or painless life? I wonder if the she would agree to test out as well? Sometimes I feel she knows her status to be negative or something, judged by her not caring about the facts of exposed sexual encounter.

stay calm! that is great you got a 4 week neg! Chances are you didn't catch it! get your conclusive in 8 weeks and move on. Take this 4 week negative as a stress reliever.

Yesterday, I decided to go to the hospital. I met a doctor and told him all my symptoms and stories without restricton. He did not think or say that I have gotten HIV. But he admitted that my symptoms are "Viral Symptoms'. Because of my anxiety he let me have a Rapid HIV test (still 4 weeks) which came out negative. The speciman used was not blood rather it was fluid from my gum (teeth) area. In his notes he wrote "Viral Sypmtoms" under diagnosis, and prescribed 'phenergan' for nausea. I have since taken this medication 2 times. I did feel somewhat ok after the test results and up to 2 hrs ago when my fever and hot sensation feelings came back. I immediately felt weakness again.

Just have an STD panel done and an HIV test.

I read your comments. But right now I'm increasingly having some sensations all over the inside of my body. Like burning sensations. Then am always sleeping but wakes up feeling like  I didn't sleep at all. Does a swollen groin indicate any other form of STD beside HIV? How possible is it that I contracted another STD (which is at least manageable) and not HIV?

1. yes that is the only way to contract HIV. Your risk was low due to you being protected even if it was a short amount of time. It's also harder from a man to contract HIV from a woman. I didn't say impossible.

2. NO, there is no short cuts in testing. 12/13 weeks is the conclusive test.

You cannot go by symptoms to diagnose HIV. HIV has no specific symptoms.

You had an unprotected sex. These damn rubbers are 100% protective only until they do not break, and once they do,,, they leave "you" right in the middle of the "****" where million of HIV's are around "you" in the "deep well", if your partner is a "poz".

Coming to your questions,

1. No ! Not everyone catches HIV, even after having sex with a "poz" partner. Typically in an unprotected event of vaginal sex, the ratio is 1:2000.
2. No ! 4 weeks test is not accurate enough. You need to wait 12/13 weeks to have a result to be 100% conclusive.

Good Luck
