Hi, maybe my story can help you a bit. I had unprotected sex five months ago. In the meanwhile I have had several symptoms (enlarged lymph nodes, pain in the legs, night sweats, tongue infection, shaking hands and legs). I have been really anxious and worried (couldn't sleep not work). However all my tests have been negative (three and four month tests, different kind of, and in different clinics). The lesson is, do not relay on symptoms to diagnose HIV, and do not diagnose your self (by looking at info in Internet). Only testing can diagnose if you have HIV or not. An antibody test (3rd our 4th generation) at three months is conclusive.

3 months post unprotected sexual exposure is when you can obtain a conclusive result. Not 6 months but 3 months.
