hiv test a question for DR.HHH

Dear DR. firs of all sorry for the English i am international. i am a female (23 y.o white). i had unprotected sex with a 21 y.o male from Germany for 6 times. most of our activities were in April and maybe 2 in the begining of May. i was very very scared and had anxiety so i did the firs test on May 27=negative. and another test on June 18=negative(51/2-6 weeks after last sex). i did the tests in Labcorp (US), and they tolsd me that they use the most edvenced Elisa tests and hiv was not ditective. i also if it is importent in the first time we did it he "came inside of me" but not in the other times. i did not had symptoms, exept sout throut (but i cried every day, smoke allot and had anxiety so i hope it is from that) i fill comfident in my resolts, what do u think? should i get another test in week 8 or more... i am usually healthy and not a drug user and all of this things.
thank you very much!
p.s: i am sorry it was such along Question and if i had speling errors...

Welcome to the HIV forum.  Just to be clear, it is only by chance that I am answering your question and not Dr. Hook.  We pay no attention to requests for one of us or the other; we just take the questions as they come.

Your English is fine and your question is very clear.

Except in gay men and injection drug users, HIV is rare in Germany, especially in non-immigrant ethnic Germans.  More important, your negative test results are virtually certain proof you were not infected.  Given the combination of a low risk partner plus the negative test result at 5-6 weeks, you really have no worries.  However, if you remain nervous, you could have one final test after 8-12 weeks.  Assuming you have no other risks, that result will also be negative.

Truly, don't worry about it.  You aren't infected.  However, if you haven't been tested for other STDs, please do so.  Chlamydia is a particularly high risk in this sort of situation, even though HIV is not.  You should also be tested for gonorrhea and syphilis.

Finally, I hope you will begin to use condoms consistently in situations like this.  Think how much less frightened you would be if you had done so with your German partner!

Best wishes--  HHH, MD

Dear DR. so sorry to bother you again. i have a few questions. most of our sex was in april i know you have to take tests after the last exposere, but can i assume that if i wasnt infected in the first 4-5 times (especially if he came inside of me in the first time) than it is a very slim chance that i got infected in the last 2 times (in May)? another thing i have now a sure throut (started about a week ago) and runing nose (i live in Las Vegas so maybe because of air condition...), is that an ARS? can be so late after exposer? and the last question, i promise.. in % how many people will test positive in the 5-6 week? thank you so much.

Around 90% of newly infected people have positive test results at 4-5 weeks.  In view of the overall situation, I see no need for additional testing -- but it you can't live with a 1 in a billion uncertainty, have a final test 8-12 weeks after your last sexual exposure to your former partner.

ARS doesn't cause runny nose.

I'm holding to your promise.  Last comment.  Take care.
