hiv testing information and results

hello.ill start off by telling my story. 6 weeks ago (itll be 6 weeks this wed) i had unprotected sex with a girl i met at the bar.  At first i was worried i had contracted herpes, i wasnt even thinking that she could possibly be infected with hiv.  Anyways after my syptoms of this so called herpes contraction started to fade (irritation in urethra) i started to let go. i got tested for gonorhea and chlamydia and herpes and hiv at two weeks. all neg.  at about that time i started to get foot dull foot pain that would come and go. of course i had to go look up on the internet to see if it was a syptom of herpes. it wasnt, it was a sign of hiv!! I immediately started to worry. THe dull foot pain gradually increased to tingling sensations in my feet, hands, legs and fingers which turned into joint and muscle pain. joint pain in my wrists, fingers, ankles, and feet...but weird dull pain that would be there one second and then dissapear.  this is at about 3 -4weeks post exposre. i really started to freak out now. Oh yeah i also had and still do have little painful lymphnodes in my groin that i can palpate. this might go back to the irritation in urethra im not sure tho. i got ahold of the girl and made here it tested. she got an elisa hiv 1 and hiv 2 antibody test. it was negative. she declares that the last person she had sex with before me was about 3 months before the test and was protected, but i dont believe here. So at 4 weeks i got a dna by pcr test that included an anti body test. they both came back negative. Here i am at about 6 weeks post exposure with joint and muscle pain that comes and goes and a lymphnode located behind my left ear that is sore when i push on it.  I am still very worried. I guess i dont really have a specific question here othere than what the heck is going on with me. i never have joint and muscle pain. and i cant help but think that she must of had sex with a guy right before the test and it didnt show up, and she gave it to me. I would like someones input please.

The skin symptom has nothing to do with HIV. HIV rash is nothing like that. As I said above HIV symptoms do not come and go.

Check this website out it may help with your symptoms

thank you for responding so quickly, and it does help. your words are a nice change of pace from the information i get on the internet (very scary). i forgot to mention the rash i started to get on week 4 or 5. it pops up on my forearms and is a patch of small red dots that arent raised and look more to be under the skin.  the weird part about the rash othere than the fact that it points to hiv is that it dissapears in about 15-20 minutes. i dont get it every day and is not itchy. my girlfriend says its dry skin but i dont think so because it isnt raised and it goes away within minutes of it popping up.

Well, it is unlikely she had HIV, Even if she had HIV it would be unlikely you contracted it from her during a single episode. But a risk is a risk. Test at the 6 week mark and again at the 3 month mark your 6 week test is very unlikely to change.

Your symptoms are not related to HIV, HIV symptoms do not come and go and are most always include a fever of 101+  My guess is your symptoms are due to your HIGH anxiety. Stop the worry and you will see your symptoms slowly go away.

You need to test as I said above but my bet is you are ok.

Hope this helps
