. I was tested positive for HSV 1 and 2. I didnt have sores in my genitals so how come I got it? also what are the chances of contacting HIV ? I took an HIV elisa test and it was negative. They say it was inaccurate and have to wait for 3 months from exposure. I can't sleep from thinking I got the HIV. Please help me with your ideas. Thanks.
Thanks for your comment. I forgot to tell you that this is my first time to have commercial sex. How did I get the HSV1 and 2? Can you elaborate. Also, this is my first time in this forum. Could you tell me where I can see how I contacted HSV1 and 2? Are there other possible sources?
Lastly, how can you say that there is no risk of HIV at all? I would appreciate your patience since I can't sleep for 3 weeks now with the stress of possibly getting the HIV and possibly transmitting it to my wife. I had sex with my wife twice unprotected after exposure.
Thanks.
Sorry, I have a question, If the girl has an oral sore or open wound in her mouth, What are the statistics or chances of me acquiring HIV if she has HIV. I am a bit confused since my doctor here in the Philippines said that I have a considerable risk of getting it.
Thanks for your patience Rob.
Zero. HIV is not transmitted in that manner. You have been told over and over and it's getting real old repeating it over and over to you. Now move on.
Sorry for my constant querries but I have been to many sites before and all of them say that unprotected oral sex carries risk of HIV transmission.
Thanks

Listen to Teak he is an expert. The CDC says there have been cases of HIV infection via oral, however the tests were inconclusive because they couldn't tell if HIV transmission was due to Oral or typical unprotected vaginal folllowing. Likely unprotected vaginal following...
I found another website from one of the universities that stated there have been "0" cases of female to male transmission and a few cases of female to male transmission from allowing infected semen into the mouth.
Protected Vaginal sex is called "Safe Sex" for a reason. Hope this helps.
i don't understand why Teak and you so called experts who don't have medical degrees can conclusively say that oral sex is zero risk even when there are sores/cuts in the person giving's mouth. i have been to doctors, who have studied medicine for years and worked in STD clinics for years who says there is a very small risk, but the risk isn't zero. How do you explain this difference of opinion Teak? Lizzie etc?
please don't just quote your "* Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to action by MedHelp" lines.... because then it really does look like you have no answer and just won't admit it so tell the person they are banned... please explain your view for once and don't just say "no risk".
Well, john, I HAVE a medical degree and have studied medicine, not to mention, have worked closely with many very experienced Infectious Diseases doctors through the years who also have NEVER seen a case of HIV transmitted by oral sex, EVER, out of thousands of patients.
We have discussed this in detail here ad nauseum. Doctors and agencies like the CDC have a responsibility to be ultra conservative in their advice. Can you imagine the liability if they said something carried ZERO risk...and then just ONE person ended up infected via that manner? So, instead, they say....there is a minute "theoretical" risk. Doctors do not say "never" or "always" when it comes to ANYTHING in medicine, by the way. They cannot make guaruntees.
You have to know how to interpret what they say. They also say that there is NOTHING to worry about when it comes to an oral "risk". The two docs on our expert forum, as well as all of their colleagues (stated by the docs themselves) have NEVER seen or heard of a case of HIV from oral sex. If oral sex was indeed a "real" risk.....ID docs would at least be seeing minimal amount of cases of HIV as a result of oral sex.
Thankyou very much for your comment nursegirl. I appreciate you taking the time to write that post. It very much puts my mind at ease, and i'm sure a lot of other people's too.
I am sure you can understand that when people like me, who do not know about or have any experience of this sort of thing to do with HIV, start to worry when we hear things about 'very low risk' etc. It is quite scary and plays on the mind. That is why i wrote what i did, as all i was reading in the forums was 'no risk' etc without any explanations from people who aren't doctors. That is not meant to sound insulting, as I very much respect the experience and knowledge of people like Teak who take the time to help other and value their opinions.
Thankyou again for your time and comment, i feel much better now that i have an explanation behind the 'no risk' comment.
