if aids symptoms begin to show in an hiv infected person is it too late?

if an hiv infected person didn't know they had hiv until aids symptoms began to show, is it too late for the person? or is there still a way to begin taking medications to reduce viral load? is it very different compared to the person taking the medications years earlier?

thanks a lot that was very helpful. could please answer one more question? would there be a difference between someone taking medication to reduce the viral load to undetectable levels after being diagnosed with aids and someone who has been taking medication to keep viral loads under control all along without progressing to aids at all?

a person can have AIDS and still have an undetectable viral load if medication is taken.
