was it unprotected.  If so, get tested at 12 weeks.  If she wasn't an injection drug user or Sex Worker, then chances are very low that she was positve to begin with (you ca't become postive if she wasn't !).  If protected, then no need to worry.

A handful of people have tested beyond 3 months but they all have other severe complications.  Again I'm no expert, but this is what I have picked up in my research.  Anal sex is high risk and anal sex with male is very high risk.  Were you protected?  IF you used condom and it did not break then you have virtually no risk for HIV.  If you didn't use a condom or it broke you should def. get tested at 12 weeks.  I beleive unprotected anal sex with a man gives you a 1/200 chance.  Others who are more knowledgable may by able to offer further advice.  Good luck.

First things first all testing regiments seem to also take into account th level of risk that a person had.  A 6 week Elisa (anitbody) is extremely reliable but not conclusive.  A small number of people could still test positve up to 12 weeks.  12 weeks is considered conclusive.  The OLD teaching was 6 months.  There are newer versions of tests over the last few years so nobody (unless your on Chemotherapy) needs to test beyond 12 weeks anymore.  What was your risk?

If your near the 12 week, go ahead and test and ease your mind.
