is my 4 moths HIV test and all the others reliable

by spat84, Jul 10, 2009 06:49PM
Hi can someone please respond , In need help.
4 months ago i had a high risk encounter and had all the symptoms listed for Acute HIV infecition(rash ,fever all of them ) that was in febuary .
6 weeks later i did  a home access  HIV test which came back negative.
8 weeks later i did  another home access  HIV test which came back negative.
8weeks later i took out a life insurance policy in which i was tested for HIV1  which came back negative.
finally 4 month after exposure i took another home access  HIV test which came back negative for HIV 1 .
but i spoke to a friend of mine today who is a virologist and he claims i could still turn positive if i tested earlier than six months post my exposure. I dont believe him but i am kind of worried .I am not on any kind of medications and have always had a health immune system. Can any one give me advice . if there are any doctors too in the forum please respond.

thanks

Hi teak thanks for the prompt reply. I read a couple messages you wrote in this forum while trying to address other  peoples concerns. It is really kind of you. My case was one of  high risk , ie no protection vaginal sex , with all the symptoms listed for ARS (Rash , oral thrush, fever ,  miscle aches soar throat, pink eye) , i was so sure that I was positive that i couldnot believe my test result. So far all four of them have come back negative.
My last questions are ;

Do you know if  anybody in this forum has ever posted that their  3months test negative test later turned positive ?

Do i haved to be worried about HIV Coinfection  Causing delayed seroconversion as some people say on the net.

I donot want to take any HIV test at the six months mark cause time whole thing has been very traumatizing to me and would like to move on .Do you have any Advice coping this this HIV phobia (my mind cannot steal believe whats going on).

And finally just to here it again can i  conclude with this four months negative test, That i have not been infected with this Virus.

Thanks

1. NO and I don't know of anyone in the past three years that has came to this forum that tested positive.
2. Those that may have a possible delay know that it can happen to them.
3. Yes you can move on and forget about this exposure. Make sure you are using latex or polyurethane condoms correctly and consistently and you won't have to worry about contracting HIV or most STDs.

So does this mean that you are saying that delayed seroconversion past 3 months is possible?

by Teak, Jul 14, 2009 05:42PM
Yes it is possible and like I advised it is rare and those people that may take longer KNOW.
