need to be calmed...

I was in bangkok about two and half weeks ago.  Had sex with with a sex worker.  Unproteced oral for about 2 minutes.  Then sex with a condom for about 30.  Unfortunately i was drunk and when we started again there was no condom.  It lasted about 10 minutes. As soon as it was over i got out of my bed and "rinsed off with soap and water gently".  Which i've read was a bad thing?  Since then i've been a mess.

What are my chances I contracted HIV?
I have also just taken a DNA PCR test but the company said it was the right test under 30 days...is that correct?  ( tested at about 15 days after possible exposure)  If it comes back negative can i trust it?  If it come back postive can i trust it?

Please help i have no one i can talk to.

There is no conclusive test that can be relied upon before 12 weeks / 84 days or three months has passed-plain and simple. Anything done before can only be looked at on a so far so good basis man. All you can due for right now is to take this as a lesson about drink and csw's are a bad combination. Either take on the csw sober and get blasted afterwards - just drink up and go home. Your partner was high risk, the sex act was medium level so your chances are maybe moderate at worst. Please don't let this continue to be your weekend m.o -or- let this happen again for your own sake man-alley-z.

That said,  there is no subtype E... If you would have looked all our tests, tests for CFR subtypes.

ON THE AVERT WEBSITE.....

What about subtypes E and I?
One of the CRFs is called A/E because it is thought to have resulted from hybridization between subtype A and some other "parent" subtype E. However, no one has ever found a pure form of subtype E. Confusingly, many people still refer to the CRF A/E as "subtype E" (in fact it is most correctly called CRF01_AE).2

A virus isolated in Cyprus was originally placed in a new subtype I, before being reclassified as a recombinant form A/G/I. It is now thought that this virus represents an even more complex CRF comprised of subtypes A, G, H, K and unclassified regions. The designation "I" is no longer used.3

Move on. You didn't read nothing of the kind. There is no subtype E strain. and If you took a PCR/DNA test you wasted your money.

So the test came back negative.  I've heard alot about false positives with PCR test....but what about a false negative.  I also read an article about subtype E strains not being detected?

I am going to go for another test after everything i've read.  Thank you.

I don't play the chance game. You put yourself at risk. PCR/DNA test is not an approved diagnostic test. To obtain a conclusive negative test you'll need to do an antibody test 3 months post exposure. If the PCR/DNA test is positive it will still need to be confirmed. So all in all, you wasted your money.
