new member wondering about HIV

hello! new member here and I am wondering about HIV.

I had unprotected sex on March 03, 2008 and after that event, i somehow got very paranoid.

so after a week of it, I got tested and it was nonreactive. the clinic is using serodia HIV-1 kit.

i know it was too soon to be sure, but i was reassured that my 2 sexes from 2 years ago came out negative for me.

so i waited and developed anxiety disorder. my abnormal thyroid wasn't helping either. it is like a battery for my anxiety. yeah, the whole chest pains and all, but I got over them slowly.

so there I was 3 weeks mark, got tested and negative.

i'm still waiting for my 6th week and I think i'll go crazy to be waiting for 3 months and 6 months.

so my question is: are serodia hiv-1 kits reliable? and is it possible to be paranoid of almost everything like a slight cough/cold and pimple popping here and there to be a sign of hiv itself?

thank you!

You don't need a 6 month test. 3 months is conclusive. Move on.

now i'm wondering if I should get tested there or just go to the usual clinic since getting it tested at the company will let people know I am getting hiv tests...and that might cause.....bad things...like discriminations or something.....i duno...not sure if it is standard for company physical exams to have hiv tests.

Only an HIV test will tell you your status.

if I had it checked, it would be my 8th week.

Congrats on your negative, it is extremely unlikely to change at this point in time.

didn't went for 5th week test. instead, went for 6th week. result on monday, april 14, 2008 5pm.

here's another thing:

when I went to the clinic, I said, 'i'm here for an hiv test please'. i swear when I was moving to sit on the couch, the dude that was there moved away in all disgust.

it's sad how many people are unaware/uneducated about hiv/aids infection. ok let's say i am positive, that doesn't mean sitting beside me would get you infected less I cut myself open and cut you open too and smear my blood all over your wound or rape you or something like that.

it's quite sad.

actually, i am trying to raise awareness of hiv in that clinic. i doubt many gets them tests there...in fear and pride. it's understandable.

laters

thanks

Yes, the serodia HIV kits are reliable. As you already know you will need to retake your test at 3 months. What you do know from the earlier test is that you had never been infected up to 3 months before you took the serodia HIV test.
