oral sex risk for hiv

You consistently state that oral sex has no risk for hiv, but other experts say it carries a low risk (1 in 10000) AND cases have been CONFIRMED through this route.  Please provide an explanation for this as I received unprotected oral from a sex worker 5 days ago and I now have a sore throat with muscle aches.

i have sucked and been sucked for the last 12 years and i dont know if those  people i've met have hiv or not because some of them are from the bath houses.  I think oral sex is 99% safe because i just got my hiv result 2 weeks ago and i am 100% negative.

The risk of getting cancer is higher that your risk of HIV infection. But you wouldn't worry over cancer, would you?

cdc say's 1 in 20000 so that study is less times when they say it will happen once.

hey i'm not saying your not right. i hope you are. just trying to understand what the real risks are.

would you yourself be confident enogh to take a BJ from someone with hiv and no other disease. be honest. would you feel conertable letting someone you love do the same.

When the Dr's say low risk they mean as close to zero as possible in a world where zero can not be obtained...Dr.Hook makes this statement a lot.

We say no risk due to several studies that have shown HIV is not passed from oral sex. One study done in Spain and another in SF. The study done in Spain was a ten year study that had over 19000 incidents of unprotected oral sex with no transmissions reported. Hard to argue with that.

most people have vaginal/and oral in the same exposure. how can you say for sure what gave it to them.

i think you guys are crazy saying zero risk.i beleive the risk is low.but to make a apsulute statement of zero risk is iresponsable to everyone that comes on here.

even the docs on the eexpert forum say low risk.

but you never copy and paste that liz.

if you and teak would list your credentials maybe we would exept your opinon more.

vance, kumar, liz and teak. would all without a shadow of a dout let your kids perform oral sex on someone with out any concern for hiv.if that person had it.

Do you stand by your statement above even for a man receiving oral sex from a hiv+ female with poor oral health?

There is no debate (among experts) about the HIV risks associated with oral sex.  The risk is so low that almost nobody who cares for HIV infected patients has ever had a patient believed to have been infected that way.  Among experts, it's a semantic issue about using terms like "no risk" and "very low risk".  There is no difference between my or Dr. Hook's use of "low risk" and other experts' "no risk".
DR. HANSFIELD

"And oral sex is basically safe sex -- completely safe with respect to HIV and although not zero risk for other STDs, the chance of infection is far lower than for unprotected vaginal or anal sex.  Please educate yourself about the real risks.  If you stick with oral sex and condom-protected vaginal or anal sex, you have no HIV worries and very little worry about other STDs. "   DR HANSFIELD

"I am sure you can find lots of people who belive that HIV is transmitted by oral sex, but you will not find scientific data to support this unrealistic concern..."   DR HOOK

"HIV is not spread by touching, masturbation, oral sex or condom protected sex."- DR. HOOK

in the public HIV Prevention forum of MedHelp, TEAK and the other moderators maintain that oral sex in all forms is a zero risk activity. Would you agree with this assessment?
I TOTALLY AGREE / DR GARCIA

there is no documented case regarding transmission from oral route
there is always a combined approach as in anal/vaginal plus oral..
you did not have a risk if u received oral...your symptoms are not hiv related
