PCR-DNA are not approved diagnostic tests for HIV.
No test is conclusive until 3months post-exposure.
A PCR DNA QUALATATIVE test done at 16 days post exposure? If negative, would it be conclusive?
A stand alone P24 Ag test after 12 weeks post exposure is almost useless. Should you be trying to determine your sero-status after a potential exposure and you have crossed the time frame of 12 weeks from the time of your exposure a standard HIV antibody test is good enough.
For the WWs here in the forum -
The correct time to get a stand alone p24 AG test is 14-21 days post exposure. However, a negative at that time frame in no means indicates a conclusive result. A combo test / duo test (P24 AG + 3rd Gen AB test) at the 6th week is much adept and indicative at the aforesaid time frame. 12 week's conclusive.
Just a p24 is not conclusive, if done with an antibody test then conclusive. If not then get an antibody test done.
