pcr test

pcr test

I had an exposure (unprotected with a prostitute) 4 months ago.  My doctor suggested the PCR test was the most accurate and so I took a DNA and RNA test (both after 120 days).  Both results were negative.

Is this conclusive or do I need to test further?

Thanks

You rare lucky that your PCR Test was negative.  False positive tests occur more often with PCRs than with the antibody tests.  Furthermore, the PCR test is neither licensed nor recommended for HIV diagnosis.  It is used to manage people with known infection.  In addition, the antibody tests are MUCH cheaper.  That said, with a negative blood test at 120 days, you can be confident that you do not have HIV.  In the future however, go with the approved, licensed and cheaper antibody test.  EWH
