penetrative insertion

my question is with regards to reponse Teak and Alien gave about 'penetrative insertion'. Are you saying that only insertion by penis (vs toys, objects, fingers) leads to infection?
also does HIV 'die' when it's exposed to air (e.g someone ejacs on your skin) or is it just not transmitted once it's been outside the body

There is no risk in toys or fingers for HIV transmission. Just a PENIS, or injection by sharing works..HIV is not alive it is either active or inactive. HIV cannot stay in an infectious state outside its host.

i had read somewhere that if semen is outside the body, as long as it is 'wet' the virus can survive, but you are saying that it may be present but is NOT infectious, once outside the body?

The virus will not stay infectious outside for any length. Just because the virus can be found does not mean it has the ability to infect.

ahh, thanks Teak. NO person has made that distinction to me before. I thought if it;s found, it must be infectious
