by dido2000, Nov 05, 2009 10:02AM
Hello Doctor,
I am a 38 years old man who is today paranoid from a little accident... 9 days ago I went to a nude bar and by accident my finger which has a cuticle (am not sure if it was bleeding or not, but the skin below was a bit sore) touched a penis of an unkown guy and i felt like a small drop of precum on this cuticle,,,, today i had a mild sore throat without any fever and it made me very worried... Am I at a risk of getting HIV if this unknown guy is positive... please help .....

No you did not have a risk. HIV is passed sexually from unprotected sex, not touching with or without cuts.

thank you guys,,, your answer helped calming me down,,,would you mind giving me some scientific explanation,,, is a small wound in the finger does not allow the virus to enter?  is it because the drop of precum is small the amount of virus is negligable to infect? ....
I am very ashamed of myself by assuming the the other guy is positive,,, but in this situation i can not help looking at the situation from teh worse angle,,, please forgive me,,, it seems my sore throat today has paranoid me

thank you again

Possible cut was not large enough, no route to the blood stream, not enough substance to cause an infection, HIV is deactivated shortly after exposed to air.

Those are the quick reasons that I can think of.

Hello guys,,
I went today after 15 days of the above mentioned incident for an HIV test and the results came as follow
HIV 1 and 2 antibody and P24 antigen results negative and refrence range Negative...
does this mean they made the normal HIV test that was supposed to be done after 3 month or the test that detects the infection at its early stages,,, or both,,,
do I have to repeat the test after 2 weeks again or this result is OK?
what do they mean by refrence range negative...

thanks for your help

You had no risk and no need to test. Don't know what you want from us. Of course you are going to test negative because you had no risk.
