question about seroconversion?

question about seroconversion?

Hi Dr. -

I had a possible exposure 7 weeks ago.

I got a DUO test a couple days ago and am waiting for the results.

My question is that on week 3-4 I got a symmetrical rash on my hips. The rash was a bunch of raised none ichy bumps on both hips. They were slightly red in color and the skin in between them was normal.

Does this sound like a ARS rash? What does an ARS rash look like?

I also had a few night sweats, but no fever that I can remember.

Also, if someone were to experience classic ARS would their DUO test be positive no matter what because to experience ARS you would have had to seroconvert?

If my test comes back negative would you consider this conclusive at 6 weeks.

Thank you so much for your help. I sincerely appreciate it.

If you had acquired HIV and experienced the ARS, your DUO test would be positive. count on this.

The rash you describe however does not suggest ARS.  It occurred later than the rash of the ARS( which typically occurs about 2-3 weeks after exposure) and was not the total body, generalized rash we expect with the ARS.

Bottom line, when you get your negative test, believe it.  Take care.  EWH

Thanks Dr. Hook -

The rash may have come around week 2-3 and I didn't notice it. Can the ARS rash come with no fever?

I have read that the ARS rash is symmetrical in nature and is raised bumps. Why doesn't mine sound like an ARS rash in your opinion?

Would you consider a six week Duo test conclusive with me getting a rash and other cold symptoms?

Thanks for your help.

I also got a little sore on my inner lip. Does that occur with ARS?

As I said the rash of ARS is a total body rash, not limited to the hips as you describe.

Results of a DUO test at any time more than 4 weeks following exposure rules out the possiblity of HIV.

It is time for you to stop worrying about HIV.  EWH
