question regarding validity of test

Just have a question and hope someone can ease my fears. In Feb. 2004 I was about 4-6 weeks pregnant and had been with my husband for 11 months in a monogamous relationship at that point. I had an hiv 1 ab with reflex that came back negative. The reason I am concerned is because I read that if I had a reflex test than my antibody had to have been positive. Now I am worried, I know it has been 4 1/2 years, but it concerns me that the antibody could have been positive. If the reflex came back non reactive am  I am ok. I also got nervous because I had thrush last week which I thought was due to my hypothyroidism or penicillin I was on. Any info. would be great.

And you got your answer.  Your test was negative, thus you do not have HIV.  Move on, please.

I am seriously not concerned about the thrush. What I meant by antibodies was if i had a hiv-1 ab screenw/reflex does that mean that my ELISA came back positive so they had to do a confirmatory wester blot? That being said if the western blot came back non-reactive and I had been mongamous for 11 months (and he gives blood regularly and does not have hiv) than the elisa was false positive and the western blot is correct? That is all I was asking.

Look.....symptoms mean nothing..  Thrush is not specific to HIV.  Test results ALWAYS trump sysmtoms.  Your test results were negative.  Move one please.

if your test came back negative, then you are negative.  Period, Not sure what you mean by your antibodies had to be positive.  If the test came back negative then you do not have any HIV antibodies.  Test again if you want peace of mind, but as of your last test you were negative.

Anyone could get thrush. Go get a test to ease your fears. 100 people can tell you 100 NO's, but will you feel comfortable with that. All you need to do to ease your fears it test only once and there you have it. Your shouldn't have any worries though, but test if you want, its not going to hurt. Penicillin is i think can cause yeast build up also.
