razor blades, syringes

how long does hiv live on a syringe for? and if hiv infected blood gets onto a razor, how long will the virus live for and how long will it have the chance to infect sum1 who may cut them selves on it?  i have read somewhere that it lives for less than a minute...and that iv drug users only pass it on because they use needles straight after each other within seconds. i shared a razor with someone who may have hiv, and i cut myslef. the razor had been lying about unused for a couple of weeks at least. chances of infection please?

Hi there,

For the syringe part.  I don't think there is any data on how long HIV virus "live" in there.  But because it a vaccum, it's a "better" environment for the HIV virus to "live".

Now back to your risk and the razor.  That is not a risk at all.  No chance of HIV infection.

Cheers

HIV doesn't live anywhere. HIV is not alive. It's either active or non active.

so because the blood or the active virus is incubated in the syringe, it will be active longer, but on a razor it would just die very soon? zero risk then.

hahaha....thanks Teak for educating us the actual terms.

Thought it may be better to reply using their own term....easier to understand.  After all, i did put " " .
