scared again

sorry i wrote in the forum without paying for a doctors advice. now i paid. i had unprotected sex for 5-10 minutes without using a condom there was no ejaculation involved. i do have hpv.  my question is i did have an hiv test 6 months after i had intercourse on march 25th and it was negative.  my last sexual occasion was on april 20th with the same guy prior i live in the us and the guy i had brief sex with is straight. what are the chances of a female contracting hiv through intercourse without ejaculation, and if i buy an at home fda approved hiv test at 6 weeks do you think this is long enough to wait and should i trust my results without getting retested after 6 weeks . i have anxiety over this again and would just like some advice. i did ask the guy and he did say he got tested, but i dont know whether or not to really believe him. one more question if you have hsv1 without any visible sores is there increased risk for transmission. thanks for your advice. did you ever see anyone seroconvert after 6 weeks of being tested negative

Please calm down.  You are at low risk. i will tell you why:

1.  HIV is rather rare, particularly if your partner was not a man who has sex with other men or a drug user.  Far less than 1% of heterosexual men in the US who do not use drugs are HIV infected.
2.  He told you he was tested.  People rarely lie.
3.  If he was infected (doubtful), your chances of getting HIV from a single episode of sex are less than 1 in 1000.

In answer to your other questions:
1. The home HIV tests are good but it is easier, cheaper and faster to go to your local health department.
2.  At six weeks, 95% of tests that are going to be positive will be, thus, given the low risk nature of your exposure, a negative result should be considered as final word.
3.  Of course people turn positive after 6 week- 2% or less of those who are infected.  you are more likely to be hit by lightning than to be among that 2%
4.  It is HSV-2, not HSV-1 that is known to increase risk for HIV

Hope this helps.  Please relax.  You are not at risk. EWH

thank you so much for your advice. you definitely eased my mind. just one more question if you do not mind. do you mean genital hsv1 has no risk.

No risk?, there is no such thing as no risk.  On the other hand, numerous studies looking at the relationship between HIV acquisition and herpes have found stron relationships between HSV-2 and HIV but have not demonstated a risk due to HSV-1.  It is not worth worrying about.  EWH
