scared and anxious about one night event

Hi Dr.
This forum is incredibly helpful to so many people.  The work you do is greatly appreciated.
I have read through all of your posts but my question was not really answered in any of them.
5 weeks ago I was in Hong Kong on biz and like many of the posts had too much to drink and ended up at a massage parlor.  I had protected sex (brief like 2 strokes) anal and then vaginal sex.  My concern is that I also had a herpes sore above the base of my penis in the pubic hair area.
I am really concerned about possible exposure in this scenario.
I should be getting test results back tomorrow.
Thank you very much for your time.
regards

The test result is what will tell the story, not my opinion.   It will be very surprising if you have a positive result; the odds are your masage partner doesn't have HIV, and if does, the risk of transmission from a single exposure is low, even with a herpes sore.

Are you sure you have herpes?  The pubic hair area is an unsual location for herpes outbreaks.  If you do have herpes--or what you believe was a possible herpes outbreak--you should not have put your massage parlor partner at risk, unless you told her about it.  If you really believe it is herpes and haven't told her, you should do that now.  It is possible the risk from this encounter is more for her, not you.

Good luck--  HHH, MD
