If you believe you have been exposed to HIV and want help to judge your risk, would like advice about HIV testing, or have questions about the effectiveness of condoms or risks associated with specific sexual practices, this is the site for you.
your question is irrelevant since you had no risk. You should move on and not invest anymore time or emotion into this issue. Trust me you will be better off for it.
ok thank u so much but just in the future since i dont have any more things to happen like this i would like to know does fever happen in most of acctue hiv symptoms thank u
there arent really mild ars sypmtoms its either u have it or u dont! if u had a fever u wouldnt be on here askin if u did..it would probably put u out for at least 5days!! what i mean is u would know that u had it! as well...u wouldnt just have a fever..most likely you would have a few others like swollen nodes all over and perhaps a rash..no itchy! your sore throat and muscle aches have occured in pretty much every single person that has been on here suggesting that they have hiv...its simply anxiety and stress...which causes ur body to get overwhelmed and feel sick..which then I believe helps u catch colds..and other common things! Everytime u think of it u problem get all hot..and a lil sweaty.! its common dude..it happens all the time!
fever is indeed one of the key components of ARS. However, symptoms or lack of symptoms is never a way to tell if you have contracted HIV. There are no specific symptoms. Some people have ARS, some don't, some have only mild symptoms and some have them so severe they are hospitalized. that's wny you never really know if you had ars until AFTER you have seroconverted and have tested positive. don't worry about symptoms, you had protected sex. move on, enjoy your life without this stress and use condoms properly and consistently for anal or vaginal sex. If you do that, you will avoid hiv. Period. End of story. No more what-ifs or buts.
well thank everybody i have not felt this good in 2 weeks but it has been almost a month how long should i wait before i get a test is it 6 weeks or 3 months or should i do both just to be sure thank u
ok iam going to move on but just a ? something i have heard why is it harder for a male to catch hiv than it is for a woman this is just a curious ? thank u
Well in general the receptive person is always at greater risk (true for anal as well as for vaginal sex). For your particular situation, you had protected intercourse, so that was not a risk. As far as oral sex on a woman is concerned that is also no risk because it is the cervical "fluid" (actually a thick mucus) that is infectious, not vaginal fluid. The fluid a woman produces when sexually excited comes from two glands on either side of the vaginal opening. This fluid has not been shown to be any more infectious than sweat or tears.
Unprotected vaginal intercourse is a risk for hiv infection, because the head of the penis comes into contact with the cervix. But, again, you had protected intercourse. With your oral sex (cunnilingus), your mouth did not come into contact with your partner's cervix (unless you have a freakishly long tongue). Even so, saliva has numerous properties that protect against HIV infection.
You did not have a risk for hiv infection. Use condoms, consistently and correctly, and you will avoid hiv infection.
In one case a large mucosal surface is exposed to semen loaded with HIV.
In another you are basically exposed only through the opening of your urethra.
Don't get me wrong, both are risky.
But clearly the top scenario is much worse.
Regardless, just as jddkdd told you, you were not at risk for HIV.
I am where you are. I know what you're feeling...but you were as protected as you could possibly be. The chances of you having HIV are...well...non-existent. Your problem - and mine - is believing it.
BUT...forget about symptoms please! Forget about them. You - like many of us - need to test at 6 weeks for your own reassurance, and accept the results of that test cos with your low risk, they will be conclusive.
But get off the symptom highway cos it just leads to insanity.
I thought symptoms dont range from extreme to nothing at all!! wel actaully it is something or nothing! but i thought there was no in between! Ars is similair to other sicknesses but when u have it ..u have it (ur in bed for a few days basically)!
I HAVE ONE MORE THING TO ASK I DONT HAVE FEVER AND IS FEVER REALLLY IN ALL ARS SYMPTOMS I HAVE A RASE AT 4 WEEKS NOW JUST ASKING FOR ADVICE TAKE CARE I KNOW IAM SORRY WART BUT HELL JUST CONCERNED THANK U SO MUCH

anywhere from 20 minutes to a week!

You are not at risk for HIV. The exposure that you described was 0% risk.
Time to move on, but if you cant, test at 6 weeks. It will be a negative test result.
