scared

my girlfriend informed me in november that she has tested positive for herpes. since then her periods are irregular and she has had several yeast infections. this has scared me to death, thinking that i might have hiv. i have had no symtoms (flu like, dry cough, etc) to date. Although the last year i have had severe muscle aches throughtout my body each day and now within the last week my hands and feet hurt pretty bad. anxiety is about to run me crazy. can someone tell me the chances are of me having hiv?

Veryveryscaredguy is right. You both should be tested anb both get an STD health screening do that should put at ease about your worries. Never ever go by sypmtom testing is the only way to know. It good practise to get an anual sexual health screening.

I asked the same question to the doctors here and on other health sites.

The risk for HIV transmission from female to male is significantly lower than from male to female. If she had HIV (which she might not) your risk according to docs here is as low as 1 to 1000.

If she got tested for herpes it might be a good idea for both of you to get tested for HIV.
