should i get testes

HI,

I have had a fear thats been driving me nuts for the past few weeks. I think someone might have injected me with a dirty needle when i was taking a nap and i could have hiv as a result of that. I have an OCD wrt to HIV and look for reasons in the smallest of things. I am trying to deal with it but its been a struggle so far. Anyways I had a canker sore around 6 days after the incident and I haven had one of those in years. But no other symptom besides tht, no fever no sore thrt. I was googling hiv symptoms and canker sores and lo and beold I see that canker sores and wt loss are the most sensitive symptoms as per some websites hivma.org while fever and sore thrt are the most specific.

When I think of it with a clear head it seems pretty obvious I would have woken up if somebody tried to stick me with a needle, but the stupid thing just keeps coming back.....I am sorry if this seems like a wierd question but I dont think I can talk to anybody abt it wothout being considered a fool.

You really have answered your own question.  This is your OCD getting to you, not HIV.  You would wake up if someone stuck you with a needle while sleeping and why would someone do this to infect you with HIV any way.  Your concerns are simply not realistic.

In answer to your question, the symptoms of the ARS typically begin about two weeks following exposure to the virus.

Keep working on your OCD- that's the problem here.  EWH

Also whats the typical period for symptoms to appear...some say 2-4 weeks, others say 7 days? I have promised myself no more worrying after this time....
