blood test done on DEC 28th and a Rapid Advance. Both were negative.
I had another rapid advance done on Jan 16th. also negative.
I am literally making myself crazy over this. I looked into the DNA by PCR test. The said if you get a negative test result 28 days Post exposure it is CONFERMED NEGATIVE.. They also run a ELISA antibody at the same time. If both come back negative, they say your negative.
Feb 1st 2009 will be 29 days EXACTLY since my last sexual encounter PERIOD. If I go and get these tests done, and they come back NEGATIVE would you consider them to be CONCLUSIVE?
Please help me with this. I know about the 3 month and 6 month deal.. But will this give me an accurate answer NOW?
No test has been appoved for diagnostic other then an antibody test. And guidelines set by the FDA and manufacture of the test say it is 100% at 3 month. 8 weeks is a very good indication and unlikely to change but 3 months is 100%.
I understand that it hasnt been approved, but it is still being used all the time, and known to give fale positives sometimes. Do you have any information about the PCR DNA test? OR can you tell me your thoughts on the test itself as far as indication purposes at 28 days possible exposure.
PLEASE, I need some peace of mind and I will pay the $220.00 for it, if it is AT ALL RELEVANT.
Places all over are now using this test and calling it accurate. It is being piggy backed with the ELISA tests. I was also told that the only reason it isnt "approved" by the CDC or FDA is because of the cost and insurance reasons.
I know your thoughts on on ELISA testing.. YOU SAY 3 months.. good.. 6 months CONCLUSIVE.
Please dont be mad at me Teak, I just need some good honest information about this test, and would like some advice.
And yes you are right sir, unprotected sex is NOT a smart thing.
3 month antibody test conclusive, 6 months waste of time, money and resources.
The test may not be approved for those reasons you have stated or a number of other reasons, I can't say for certain. But since we are in America we do advise to use what is approved and recommended.
Ok thank you both.. I just wanted a little more info in the PCR testing. I know you both probably know about this test and the statistics. I just wanted to know if you thought it was accurate at all or not.
What part are you not understanding? I've been positive for 25 years and I can take a PCR-DNA and it will come back undetectable. So what does that tell you?
