sore throat and hiv

by mee530, Jul 06, 2009 05:26AM
I have had a sore throat for 2 weeks and have taken a week of antibiotics after a doctor assumed it was strep throat (he didn't take a test for it). It has not changed at all since the antibiotics and I don't have other symptoms (no fever, etc). I had unprotected sex (anal, vaginal, and oral) about 5 weeks ago and am worried about the sore throat being a symptom of hiv (I am scheduled to take a test next week). I have never used drugs and was in a 5-year monogomous relationship prior to this encounter.

your test next week will be a good indicator of your status...but follow up with a test at 3 months for a conclusive result.
