symptoms maybe mean nothing

i just have chat with my friend who is HIV+, i knew him for almost one yer. he was infected by unprotected sex , but was only single event made him sick. even his doctor said he won a lotto.
He is a nice person told me that symptoms means nothing except the final blood test. he said, he was very sick during ARS, his ARS occur on 3 weeks after sex. he went to hosipital for an intensive care , the duration of sick was 2 weeks, he got high fever something like 40. and rash on his body, but without any sore throat. now his blood test shows CD4+ is 500, and no med required. i am so happy that he got a nice result and still being very healthy.
everyone has different symptom during ARS, it is ture that the symptoms kinda mild or very serious.
actually we need more support from the emotional care.

Is ARS an always when infected?
In all cases (or most all) does the person get ARS within 1-4 weeks of exposure?
Is ARS always a sickness that bed riddens you, or can ARS be minor like the common cold?

everything is possible, some people no feeling at all, and maybe 90% of people experience ARS, some mild, some need to get treatment in hosipital.

All you know is what he reported.  Which is probably NOT true.

I'll tell you what my husband told his doctor about his Hep C.  He completely and utterly lied, and denied ever using injectable illegal drugs.  So his doctor said he "must" be one of the "lotto winners" who got HepC via sex.

I know he lied.  But thats how the statistics get screwed up.  He'll never admit to his doctor that he lied.  He seems totally not the drug using type, so his doc believed him.  He does not use drugs now, this was 20 some years ago he used them.
