nursegirl6572, please take me answer to my question) .
12 weeks is conclusive if you're not on chemo therapy or organ transplant immunosuppressing medication.6 months is for people with a SEVERELY compromised immune system.
Chemotherapy , pep, very potent immune suppressing medication.
the ultimate test after 12 or 13 weeks?
I would never give advice unless I am absolutely sure. The medication you are taking is unfamiliar to me and I do not know if it would affect your immune system so much as to influence your tests.
Hopefully teak or nursegirl will have an answer. Or you can post in the expert forum.
Dr Hook or Dr Handsfield are far more qualified to give you appropriate advice.
.Thank you hangon! the ultimate test after 12 or 13 weeks? antiviral medications is ISOPRINOSINE, AMIXIN .
"antiviral medications for colds"
irrelevant for test accuracy.
Thy will not affect an AB test at 12 weeks post exposure/
antiviral medications for colds
anti viral medications?
Are you on chemo therapy...i.e cancer? Did you have an organ transplant? Are you on post exposure prophylactic medication?
Antibiotics will not affect an HIV test. As for anti-viral medications, what medications are you talking about?
hangon51. please take me answer to my question)
please tell me whether the use of antibiotics and antiviral drugs in large quantities of cold affect the production of antibodies? the ultimate test after 12 or 13 weeks?
Hello Completely correct result should I get in exactly 12 weeks or after 3 months?
Testing once a week is ridiculous and unnecessary. The only thing testing that much will accomplish is more anxiety and an increased chance that you'll end up with a false +. Imagine how you would feel then?
I took the test on 4,5,6,7,8,9,10 weeks after risk. whether such a frequency analysis on blood donation affect the outcome?
Nicely worded accurate answer.
Why would you be testing once a week?
if HIV testing once a week whether the frequency of delivery of the analysis affect the outcome?
What I know as a fact is that the best indication of infection is our own bodies response to an invading virus.
From 30 some years it is known that the body's response to infection is detectable by 22 days, depending on the test's sensitivity.
Now we have DUO tests that look for antigens as well as antibodies.
They are great for early detection. But early detection is not the same as "conclusively negative". To be classified as conclusively negative one must endure an 84 day long waiting period to get a garden variety antibody test! Be it blood borne or even a simple, self administered oral swab test as is available now in the U.S.
If your body does not develop antibodies in 84 days, you will not have been infected.
A negative antibody test at 10 weeks is unheard of to change !
But you must confirm it at 12.
my doctor said about my immunodeficiency state: phagocytosis of neutrophils and monocytes below normal, CD4-550 below normal, CD4/CD8=1.5 below normal, NK-5% below normal, B-18% above the standard. Prompt please, whether it can cause a delay antibody production?
"secondary immunodeficiency? "
I am at a loss?
thanks for your reply. I am interested in only one question to determine whether the standard terms for secondary immunodeficiency?
You're more than likely negative after your 10 week test.
However, the manufacturers of the assays insist on 12 weeks for confirming a true negative! The FDA insists on it! \and unless that changes I am not prepared and comfortable giving you a different advice!
You're seeking reassurance. I get that. But you had a potential risk and in fairness to your future sexual partners and your and our conscience we cannot give you a pass before 12 weeks.
Sorry.
