Lymph node enlargement can be due to absolutley anything. I guarentee you will  have swollen lymph nodes at some point in your life. Id be concerned if you hadn't to be honest- You just haven't noticed.

If you read what the doctors in the expert forum say, basically testing a week after a symptom appears is proof that the symptom was not HIV related.

ARS if it happens at all happens 2-4 weeks post exposure and lasts 1-2 weeks. Symptoms or the lack of will never tell you your status. An HIV test 3 months post exposure will be conclusive.

Dear

I had another test today which is 8 weeks after my exposure and 3 weeks after the lymph enlargements began I know it still not 100% conclusive but at least do you know if the lymph enlargements not cause by HIV virus?

Hi TEAK
Could you let me know if  the lymph enlargements not cause by HIV virus with  negative after 3 weeks of the beginning of ARS?

It feels like you need to test after 12 weeks to be sure but I understand your concerns which are very similar to mine at the moment where I have just finished PEP and have a very long wait of 3 and 6 months. All you can do is query every little change to the body. There is constant anxiety and then you look to this forum for any guidance from those who may have gone through the same experiences. Unfortunately you just get advise on the standard norms which you can read from most publications.

I would still be concerned if I were you as I have read that swollen lymph nodes can be a sign of HIV infection. If you have been exposed then you have every right to be very concerned. I have never had swollen lymph node in my life. I have now been exposed to HIV if you read my posting. If swollen lymph nodes appear over the next few weeks my anxiety level will no doubt double.

I wish you all the best and try and be patient with your situation.

Thanks for your posting.

I hope it gives some comfort to oooooops' situation. For me I agree i may not have noticed any lymph node swellings. One thing for sure is that now is not the time for any lymph node to turn up after my exposure because that would really freak me out. I have generally been very fit and free of all kinds of illness but my body has taken a real battering from PEP for 27 days so I am on the look out for any changes.

Dont talk to me about lymph nodes.. ha ha. I came down with mumps 3-4 days after "exposure" , night sweats, sickness, weird rashes etc, extreme fatigue sensitivity to light- the works. It wasn't HIV at all. If you're a hetro from an industrialised country HIV is very rare.

You need to shift his hyper-awareness away from your body sir!

Thanks for you posting.

I had actual HIV exposure unfortunately. She tested HIV+ so nothing to do with statistics. The issue for me is straightforward, did I get infected from that unfortunate and innocent stint of unprotected sex? That is what I need to wait and find out.
