I agree with your doctor.  You had protected sex with a commercial sex worker.  Statistically the commercial sex worker is unlikely to have HIV and, even if she did, your condom use would prevent you from becoming infected.  You have nothing to worry about.

Your negative HIV test 3 weeks after the exposure is also in your favor.  At three weeks well over 50% (half) of infections that were acquired three weeks earlier would already yield positive tests.

Finally, your white blood cell count is normal.  It is also normal for the white blood cell count to vary from one test to another as these do.  The 2nd one is in the high part of the normal range.  In addition, as it related you your question, the white blood cell count as reported on these tests will not provide useful information to help evaluate your risk for HIV.

As for your symptoms, your white tongue is not thrush and any fevers or other problems that you note are not likely to be due to HIV.

You have nothing to worry about.  You do not have and risk of HIV from the exposure you describe. EWH

thank u for your early reply  Dr,

Following are my concerns regarding my symtoms (symptoms)

1) My fever and sore throat has started after two weeks that is timing, nature of fever it had lasted for 4 days all the time my body was warm only onece it has reached to 100 after the use of panadol it came down, this fever is the typical symtom of HIV?

2) WHITE TOUNG- After two days of fever i have noticed the bitter taste and cheked the mouth white color was visible in the back side of the toung, it continuied like that with discomfert in the mouth , last two weeks white coating was visible in the entaire toung but i can easily wipe off but it will come back after two or three hours ,that time toung will become heavy and we can feel it also - Dr this is the typical oral thrush in the early stage of HIV?

3) After two months small read sopts are visible throught the body but it is not severe-Dr this is the typical skin rash in the early stage of HIV?

4) the other doctor told me that high level of WBC not common in HIV infected people is it true? why blood test is not relevent in assessing the hiv status?

5) discomfort in the mouth is still there even the ent Dr couldnt give any solution is it part of early stage of HIV?

I dont have any other symtoms (symptoms) like Swollon lympnodes, head ache etc, can i have sex relation with my wife???

Dr Hook has told you you virtually had NO RISK it was protected sex!!!!!!!!!!

WBC does not determine if you have HIV only an antibody test like a rapid or elisa can
Symptoms do not indicate you have HIV it is the cold and flu season as far as the white tongue goes we all have a little white coating especially in the back area.
Finally stop reading on HIV symptoms it will only make Your ANXIETY AND STRESS levels go up.

Finally you need to move on and forget about HIV

You are asking me to repeat myself.  I will not do this.  Your symptoms do not suggest HIV and to worry that the do reflect HIV is a waste of time.  Just as symptoms are non-specific, so is a test of your white blood cell concentration.  You are at no risk and can have sex with your wife. EWH
