why kissing is not a risk?

by andres1980be, Nov 10, 2009 06:57PM
Hi every body, I had a low risk exposure, I kissed a prostitute like five times and we interchange saliva (I hope that she had not gum diseases or anything else) cause I had a little. I know that there had been like two cases that probably was causes because of a french, deep or wet kiss. My real question is where can I find studies or researches that validate that kissing is not a  risk of being infected with HIV (or other disease) or is just because is so rare? what could be the real probability of get infected by the exposure before?

You do NOT need to be concerned with "studies" as the data wouldn't mean anything to you anyway. Exposure via Deep Kissing does NOT happen, regardless of whatever spin you'd like to imagine.

I'm tired of all the questions about kissing, thats because I want to see studies, real data. In my country there are cities in which the 3,2 percent of sexual workers are infected with HIV.

why I have not to be concerned? well I have found some interesting articles:

http://www.thebody.com/content/art2287.html
(about the only documented case)

http://www.medhelp.org/posts/HIV-Prevention/Cumulative-Risky-Behaviors---French-Kissing/show/99820

(this summarize all the worries that a kiss with an unknown person could have) and shows an important case:

And Dr. H. Hunter Handsfield, M.D always says:
"HIV is not generally transmitted by saliva, and nobody has ever reported HIV transmission by kissing.  I do not recommend HIV testing.  You said it right yourself:  "just forget it and relax""

there is also other post that shows the odds, but I did not tested:
http://www.medhelp.org/posts/STDs/Can-I-get-HIV-if-I-kiss-a-person-whos-HIV--and-has-herpes/show/246198

Well there are other articles that make me worried about the possibilities:

http://www.mindfully.org/Health/AIDS-related-Herpes-Virus.htm
(studies that reveal that saliva has more hiv than semen)

http://www.observer.org.sz/index.php?news=8671

http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/resources/factsheets/PDF/oralsex.pdf

http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/resources/qa/qa17.htm

And "THE MERK MANUAL 7th Edition" says:

"Although theoretically possible transmission by saliva or droplet nuclei produced by coughing or sneezing is extremely rare, if it occurs "
