window period in athens

hi,
because i see a little confusion about the window period i have to tell you that here in athens i've taken one antibody and one 4th generation hiv test.for the antibody test i went to the biggest hospital for STD in greece,they told me the window period is 8 weeks and if i had passed the 8 weeks i was 100% and i didn't have to test again.for the 4th generation i went to the biggest private clinic and theu doc told me window period for this test it's only 1 month,i can't understand what's the differnce between countries to announce different window periods..

the window period is actually easy to figure out. with all the infromation you are receiving and looking at your fear of the situation, you sound a little unsure about the eight week test. would you feel comfortable with the 12 week? 12 week would ease your mind right?
take your 8 week test to the bank, because it is very accurate, but test at twelve to ease your mind. people who are this worried should always wait to test/or retest at 12 weeks. it is the window period stated by most. what was your exposure?

firstly thanx for your reply,i was with an african prostitute unknown hiv status and the condom brake,i was exposued for around a minute when i noticed it,i didn't finish if this is important

you did have a slight risk, but overall with all evidence at hand, it appears you have escaped. remember this lesson and how you fill, so when you go get the negative at 12 weeks, you will second guess yourself on choice of sexual partner atleast.

I would like, HSci said, go with your health care provider recommendation for your specific incident.  

They met and did the test for you, so they would be able to give the right recommendation.

All these windows period discussion remind me of those days when we were changing it from 6 months to 3 months...  : o )
