The need for a repeat HIV test if still within the window period after a specific exposure should be discussed. Although fourth generation tests shorten the time from exposure to seroconversion a repeat test at three months is still recommended to definitively exclude HIV infection.

There's no advantage to taking a DUO at 3 months.  Taking a DUO past 4 weeks is really useless, as it is geared towards early detection.  For a 3 month conclusive test, as per guidelines, a simple antibody test suffices.

I have. She agrees with dr garcia that the p24 antigen stays in the blood for a long period.but don't believe what I say because you have no way of verifying my sisters view.but if you look on the freedom health forums you will see dr garcia mention this numerous times.

no need to have a duo test at 3 months post exposure...a simple antibody test will suffice.

daryl28uk...ask your sister, the hiv specialist, what happens to the p24 antigen once antibodies develop.

You must have an antibody or duo test 3 months after exposure.I would go for a duo  because you will then have both angles covered.take one now for a near conclusive result but you must take one 3 months after exposure to be completely sure.ps people on here will disagree with a duo after 3 months but my sister has been an hiv specialist at an nhs gum clinic for over 20 years so I'm showing loyalty and going with her advice lol
