Female Androgenetic Alopecia/ Oral Contraceptives

What are your feelings about the connections between OC and female hair loss? I have taken Orthotricyclen for 10 years and recently stopped, and I am experiencing moderate hair loss. I started taking the pill at age 14 for the treatment of acne in conjunction with spironolactone. I realize Orthotricyclen is in the lower androgen index, and is sometimes prescribed for female hair loss. I'm also still taking spironolactone 100mg daily for acne, and am aware of its anti-androgen effects. Yet, I'm still losing hair. Any suggestions? Straight to the doctor for thyroid, iron, etc labs? I'm at a loss.

It could be temporary, but caused by the stopping of the drug.  You will just need to go through a hair growth cycle and then it will likely come back.  In the meantime, you can take supplements - a good multivitamin with minerals.  Use Wella Regulate shampoo for fluffy hair.
