HRT or not for hair loss

HRT or not for hair loss

I had a complete hysterectomy 10 years ago.  I've been on Vivelle.Dot (hormone replacement therapy) since then.  My hair has constantly thinned.  I read HRT's can cause hair loss.  I also read that Estrogen promotes hair growth.  Which is it?  Is the HRT (estrogen) making it grow or making it fall out?  Should I stop the patch or keep taking it?  I'm also on cholesterol meds and am stopping that because I know for sure it is causing the loss.

I can totally relate.
After giving birth my hair thinned so much there was hair all over the house. My husband became so worried that I was going bald! Now, it's slowly coming back. I've got so much baby hair it's weird looking at my head, there's short hairs standing everywhere.
It's not just HRT's. If there's any changes in hormones it can drastically make your hair grow or fall out. Unfortunately, it's not the same for everybody.
I can suggest some things I tried that worked for me:
1. Head and Shoulders shampoo (I know, this is highly unusual, but I've tried other shampoos in between using Head and Shoulders, and my hair looks thickest when I'm using H&S).
2. Coconut Oil (This is a very old remedy used by my mother-in-law. She puts this oil daily on my nieces who have little to no hair and so far, I've seen it worked for them).
3. Scalp massage (A massage is always good! It helps circulate blood in the scalp, making the skin layer receive more oxygen and thus encourages hair growth).
I hope I've been of some help.
Good luck!!!!
