meds & saw palmetto

Just started Metformin for PCOS symptoms, not officially diagnosed (which I dont understand, if I have nearly all the symptoms, especially acne & hair loss) but anyway..  Im still dealing with hair loss. first defused then male pattern. Im depressed because ive changed my life style(no smoking or drinking. taking vitamins & eating better). I started rogaine mens 5% once a day for a month now approved by dermatologist. It only seemed to slightly slow the hair loss. I would like to start saw palmetto as well. Any advise. I am seeing my doc tomorrow but Ive had no luck with hair loss advice from my Endo & spent a $1000 for my Derm to tell me to use over counter rogaine. Any risks or has anyone had luck with the metfromin & taking saw palmetto.
