topamax, birth control pills, and alopecia, insomnia, acne

by sofia22, Oct 16, 2009 03:49PM
intitally had mild hair loss, 3 months after stopping yaz birth control pills. Started taking topamax for migraine prevention, 9 months ago. Hair loss now profound ( over 50%), insomnia, acute onset of adult acne 4 months ago, and  costochondritis.

Is there scientific or anecdotal evidence that topamax can contribute to these symptoms?
Please help. the topamax has helped migraine prevention- but are these the side effects of the drug? only take 30mg daily.

I was on topamax and I lost A LOT of hair. To the point that I stopped taking it and started using Nioxin shampoo for hair loss. Yes it is the topamax. Sadly it worked great for me until my hair started falling out.
