Change in Senses Post-Concussion

I recently experienced a concussion (sometimes called a mild traumatic brain injury [MTBI]), but have noticed something odd. Symptoms describe a DECREASE of sense of smell, but instead, I've been experiencing an INCREASED sense of smell. Does anybody have any explainations for this?

Hi!

Well, concussion can cause strange effects. Usually it dampens your sense of smell and taste. However, depending on the area of injury, it can also heighten your sense of smell. Normally this is related to decreased dopamine in the brain. You can discuss this with your neurologist. Take care!
