Im a 59 yr old male. I was a victim of a violent assult 0n 2/15/2016 about 12 weeks ago. I was hit above my left eye brow on my forehead with a full force downward swing he used a older large metal flashlight like the police had in 1970's. He went to jail and I was treated at the local hospitals emergency room. I had 1.5 inch cut on my forehead and the bridge of my nose had a 1/4 inch split going down to my nasal passage. Results was I have a concussion, now post concussion syndrom .I have some pressure in my forehead and headaches on the front  and side of my forehead. I do have a Neurologist I'm seeing. I'm looking for another opinion. Thank You. in land of Lincoln. posted on 5/19/2016

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
First of all relax! I know it looks horrible but it is normal. Below the skin there is a common space extending from your forehead to your cheek. Hence if you have a bump on your forehead, the water, blood and chemicals and cells that collect as a result move to lower areas like your eyelids, cheek etc. The color changes that occur are also normal. The redness turns to reddish blue tinge and then yellowish depending on the stage of healing.
There is nothing much you can do to hasten healing. You can apply cold compress and if there is swelling and pain take OTC anti-inflammatory drugs.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
