Head Injury--When ok to exercise again?

I fell this past saturday and hit my head really hard on a coffee table. My friend said that when she tried to wake me after I hit my head that I kept passing out with my head in her hands. I went to (the most terrible hospital in my life) who took a cat scan and sent me home saying there was no internal bleeding so I was fine. Since then I have had terrible migranes and where I hit my head hurts really bad to the touch.

I am feeling a little better day by day but my fiance this morning wanted to go to the gym and I didn't feel right about it. Does anyone have any suggestions of when it should be ok for me to work out again and what could be potentially bad about going to lift / do cardio with the headaches?

Thanks!

Hi

The symptoms mentioned by you have their origin in the head injury you had suffered recently. It is important to get them diagnosed and get the underlying condition treated. You should visit a consultant neurologist for a thorough examination, including blood workup, CT/MRI/Lumbar puncture.

Most head injuries are closed injuries, and may manifest no visible injury. A head injury may not cause immediate symptoms. Dizziness and headache are a common result of mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI). They may manifest as late symptoms of the injury.

You should discuss about exercise and workout possibilities with your doctor, who will be able to advise you better after examining any underlying cause. Do write in after your doctor’s opinion and in case you need any other information.

Take care

hi, in my idea the pain is related to the skull due to contusion. specially that you are getting better every day. but how many houres after the injury did you do a CT? at first hours CT can't show bleeding. if you didn't get better any more go to aneurologist to right another CT if needed.
wishes!
