Head injury & air travel

My daughter had a severe accident and along with other injuries has a fracture on the left side of her skull between her left ear and neck.  She also had bleeding on her brain and was in ICU for 4 days. Although she has the pain under some control she does have terrible headaches off and on.  My question is what is the danger of her flying home? She could fly straight thru in about 2 1/2 hours or stop with 1 to 2 hour flights. Or should we try and drive home?

Thank you for your information.  After speaking with her doctor's nurse I was told that it would be ok to fly.  They were initally concerned about the bleeding of the brain while in ICU which is why they might have told her friend it's not ok for her to fly. After the mri came back clean they said it was OK for her to fly home.  Thanks again for your response.

There should be no danger at all in flying home. Although the aircraft fly at high altitudes, the flight engineer adjusts the pressurization so the interior pressure is much closer to ground level. Please mention the head injury to the stewardess, so in the event of a pressurization issue (unlikely) she can get special attention. There is nothing particularly medically dangerous about flying in an aircraft.
