Head injury

in july of last summer i sustained a head injury from a jet ski accident that resulted in bell's palsy phenomenon,i had an MRI and CatScan and after 2 months of shock therapy im almost completely better except that my face twitches in my sleep and some pain on that side of my face... I recently hit my head again (1 month ago) on that same side and i can feel a distinct dent where i hit it... and the bells palsy pain seems a lot more noticeable now... I dont want to have to get another MRI or scan so is there anyone who can reassure me that it'll heal on its own and go away???

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
It is important to get a neurological consultation. Pinched trigeminal/facial nerve and TMJ too could present this way. Hence both need to be ruled out. However, since you had head injury again, even this needs to be ruled out as the cause.
Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral.
Take care!

Oh I understand where u mean...a syrinx is less likely with a trauma in that location.

But a good jolt like that can force the cerebellum to shift...and that could be causing impingement on the nerves  creating ur facial tics.

I have chiari that is congenital, but it can be acquired from a trauma such as urs, and symptoms r similar....do get a full check by having a brain MRI w.wo contrast as well as a cervical MRI.

  Good luck to u

I have no clue if they checked for syrinx, but my neck wasnt involved in the jet ski accident, i didnt even black out, i got right back on the jet ski and then noticed that my face was twitching and a week later it didnt work at all, im grateful that the facial nerve has'nt stopped working again and the pain is'nt terrible its just noticeably annoying the dent is  on a the side an inch from my hairline by my forehead the jetski hit me on top of my head right by my hairline so the hits are a good two inches apart so i know the dent is from the recent hit

Hi...u do not want to hope with a head injury, since u re-injured it, I would suggest another MRI may be in order.Do u know if u were ever checked via MRI for a syrinx?...they can form after a trauma to the head like this....especially if ur neck was involved, this should be ruled out.

  Good luck to u
