Head injury

Hello:

I am a 50 year old male.  I had a blow to my head from a garage door.  I was hit hard but didnt black out.  Saw stars for awhile.  The next day I was seeing everything in a green haze.  I went to the doctor and she referred me to a specialist.

The results of the MRI on my brain has me wondering about a couple things.

Findings:  The cerebral white matter shows a punctate T2 hyperintensity in the right frontal lobe on series 7, image 1 along the superior aspect of the external capsule.

Impression:   Single nonspecific white matter lesion in the right frontal lobe:  probably ischemic.

Could you please explaine what this means to someone NOT in the medical field ?   The neurologist says we just need to wait.  I have tried to do some research ( on the web )  when I found your site.

Thanks for your response

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
Basically these are imaging techniques to see deep white matter. You appear to have a single lesion in the frontal lobe of the brain, the main reason of which appears to be low oxygen supply. Some ischemia or lower oxygen supply develops with age. Hence your doctor asked you to wait and watch. If you develop cognitive problems or emotional outbursts etc then you need to consult the neurologist earlier. Are the symptoms persisting?
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
