Head pain after a head injury

My son hit the back of his head and had to get a staple.  It has been 5 days and now he has had a sharp throbbing pain in the front of his head 4 times today.  He grabs his head for about 10 seconds and then the pain is gone.  Not sure if we should make another visit to the emergency or if it is normal after a head injury..... When asked how the pain is, he says on a scale of good, kinda bad and very bad...He says more bad.  He had a previous head injury from a car accident with bleeding on the brain (front of his head) several years back.  SO knowing this, it is concerning.

If there is so much head pain then yes, you must take your son to the ER and get a CT scan done or a MRI as deemed necessary. Also since there is an earlier history of head injury, it is important to get this one investigated. Take care!
