Hit head on cement

Last Sunday I hit my head my temple area of head really hard on the cement.  I don't think I passed out, but saw black and stars for a bit.  The weird thing is that I did not get a lump on head, but after awhile my cheekbone area (not the temporal area) swelled and began to discolor with bruising.  I did not have any strange symptoms, but have of course had head pain each day.   I wondered if it is possible that I cracked my temporal plate, but without a lump?   Also, wondered if there is any reason at this point that I should get an xray since it has been almost a full week.  Besides the pain, it hurts more when I bend over or exert myself in anyway.  Have not had dizziness, nausea, etc.

It is quite possible that you have only soft tissue injury and contusion. Since the space below the skin is connected in the face, a temple injury can cause discoloration of the cheek bone due to fluids/blood seeping down. However, it is important you get this examined by a doctor immediately and if need be an X-ray will be done. Sometimes symptoms of fracture and injury in the head and skull area appear late. So it is important to consult a doctor immediately. Take care!
