Hit top of head on dresser corner

Hello board!

Yesterday morning I was reaching off the side of my bed for my book on the floor....and when I was lifting myself back up into bed, the corner of my nightstand (very blunt, sharp corner) hit me right smack dab in the middle of my head HARD!! I mean, it was HARD...to the point where I had to rub my head for a while to relieve some pain.  I felt a little off the rest of the day, so I called my general practitioner and she told me to go to the ER to be on the safe side. The ER doctor told me that it wasn't something to worry about, and he sent me home with a prescription of ibuprofen. My head is REALLY sensitive where the corner slammed into my scalp, my concern is should I have insisted x-rays be done? Or should I be OK in that he sent me home with just a physical exam. I've been experiencing pain where the bump on my head is (but I wouldn't say headache at all), and I've been slower/more tired than I usually am. Should I ask for x-rays?

It's been about 4 days and I still have aches in my head, and I get really sleepy mid-afternoon...I went in for a check-up yesterday and they said that they think I'll be fine. I'm just worried that I never had a CAT scan...should I worry about these aches and pains in my head? I wouldn't say they're a headache, and sometimes my vision feels "tired."

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
If you develop nausea, vomiting, excess sleep, severe headache, difficulty in walking and balance, tremors, seizures, vision problems, ringing in ears etc then consult a doctor immediately. These symptoms develop if there is a brain injury or bleed. Otherwise this pain will go in a few days. The skin may remain sensitive for days. Take care!
