Hi about 7 years ago i fell from my heigh on the head and had a brain injury with a very small extra-dural hematoma non operable.
I did not slept into coma and would have not by the way because the bleed was 1cm small and did not expand further, did not have severe brain injury symptoms except vomiting and drowsiness and headaches, did not necessitate rehab, did not have confusion or loss of consciousness. For the doctors my injury could have been severe but was not and necessitate surveillance because very worrying at the time of the injury.
My question after this is " is it possible that i became less smart after this injury".
It is very worrying for me the idea of having became less smart and i would rather commit suicide than beeing less clever.
Can brain injuries have an effect on intelligence.
My very good psychiatrist told me no because it was the meninges who protected the brain and avoided serious damage to the brain.
I don't want answers like " its ok if you became less smart you can do something else".
I would like real constructive posts.
Thanxs
