Memory and recall

I am 56 and in relative good health.  I am quite active and still pitch in a baseball league.  I have had asthma since childhood and have been hospitalized several times over the years.  I remember being struck in the head when I was 6 by a bat and staggering into someone swinging on a swing set and being struck again.  I remember throwing up that night and having a really weird dream where I heard my name called out repeatedly.   This was about 1961 and concussions were not a big deal as today.  I really notice that everyone I know can recall words to songs and names of actors or athletes yet I am very, very limited as to what I can remember.  It is embarrassing at times that I can't remember a simple name yet when someone says the name, I can recall the person.  I have taken many asthma medications over the years and wonder if there is any explanation or I direction you can point me to as to what may have happened to my memory.  You are probably the wrong person to talk to but maybe you can direct me to the right person.   Thanks

a year later after a car accident,  I'm really noticing memory/cognitive issues/spelling(used to be no too bad w/ that, now I have to spell check everything) and other issues that apply to my emotions.Got put on the back burner, cause of my back/neck injuries. I'm 33, but I've also received several minor concussions in my life, prior to the car accident. I am scheduled to see a Neuropsychologist  for an evaluation. They are hard to find, so maybe start w/ a GOOD Neurologist.(trust me, they're are a lot of bad ones out there.)

Best of luck and if feel like it, follow up w/ this post. The more info posted on here, the more it helps others.

Peace
