Pineal gland cyst

Hi
I was in a car accident in aug. of 2003. I was unconsious for a while because even though I had my set belt on my head hit off the steering wheel and was bed ridding for about 8 months. The reason I am writing is because of my systoms I am having which every neurologist so far which is about 6 (all in canada) said they can not help me and I have to live life the way I am. I will start off with my main concern which is a Pineal gland cyst of 1.2 cm can this be caused by brain trama, I did have CFS fluid leaking out my ears after the accident for about 1 hour the doctors said. I also have Myoclonus jerks which effect my whole body inculding breathing, migrains, narrowing of my c-spine, vomiting, nausea, neck pain, my eyes are sensative to light and I see black dots, narcolepsie, cognitive problems such as reading/writing/spelling/consintration(so sorry if I have miss spelled words)/cutting my nails/shaving/eating/drinking etc...and other mild systoms. I am not allowed to drive or work indefintily as it stands right now. I am from canada and cant get any help from doctors there they all said to live with what I have and then they throw some pills to me. So at the present time I am in the United States ( Ohio) going to the cleveland clinic trying to get help. I am only 25 years old, have a wife and 3 month old son and I need my life back. I have been living like this for 7 years almost and its taking over my life. Can a Pineal gland cyst cause any of these systoms? Can anyone advise me what I should do? Any info would be great. Thanks.

Concussion problems here too from an auto accident. Out cold for 6 hours. Cognitive Rehab helped a lot. Tests with the therapist showed where my problems were and good work arounds were suggested. Carrying a note book was one as I would be driving and forget where I was going. That was 10 years ago. Now I have and use a recording feature on my smartphone a lot and go over my notes later and make written notes and keep on dropbox which I have access to from all my devices and also share and discuss with my good wife.  Biggest problem now seems to be insomnia and take xanax 2 -3 times a nite to be able to sleep. At first I was microdosing by crushing 1/4 pill with mortar and pestle and mixing with water and taking half but now building tolerance and have to double that. Bennies are not good long term and it worries me. It all seems to go to Pineal gland function and melatonin.

There is a private Concussion and a TBI group on facebook which helps a bit.

I have some ebooks to share .pdf if you like.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Yes, pineal gland cysts larger than 0.5 cm can cause symptoms such as headache, ataxia, vertigo, light sensitivity and vision problems and nausea. They can cause additional pressure symptoms too. Other than that it can be a cystic tumor in the pineal gland region.
Since you are in the US now, you can discuss this with the neurologists there and find out what can be done, which may also include surgery. It would be more appropriate to consult a neurosurgeon.
Such an impact on the head as you suffered can cause cervical spine injuries or nerve compressions and can also cause a slow developing sub dural hematoma. Other possibilities are minor leaks due to burst blood vessel or a mild traumatic brain injury. It can also cause TMJ problems. Ear drums also get burst or ear damage also occur post impact on head.
Please get a complete brain and cervical spinal assessment by a neurologist and a neurosurgeon. Take care!

Not sure how much Cleveland clinic can help though they are one of the top hospitals in U.S.  Hope you get some relief and keep posted.  I also had a TBI and still suffering so keep us posted.

One thing I am looking into is Stem Cell Therapy which of course not available in U.S. or Canada and has to go out of the country.  Other options are like HBOT, Neuro feedback, Vision Therapy etc.,  since brain injury symptoms are not something just treated by drugs alone and some cases makes it worse.

Good luck.
